Ever feel like you’re caught in a time warp? Like time just vaporizes and you’re left wondering what happened?
Or how about a day that is planned to be smooth and uneventful that just seems to hit every road block, every delay, every detour and diversion possible.
MOST of my days are defined as above! 😂 And today is no different.
Let the day begin…
My precious little gift from God is having a birthday party tomorrow (after already having to postpone it a week because of illness) and I wake up sneezing with a sore throat. 😮! So I PRAY!!! Then I keep us as separate as possible most of the morning, down lots of vitamin-rich anti-oxidants in my power smoothie, and do what needs done.
School drop-off…check! 😊
The chase is on…
I decide I better go get some vitamin C (actually calcium ascorbate, since I break out in a rash from “regular” vitamin C/ascorbic acid).
I go to my usual store…all out.
I go to another store…never heard of it.
I call another store…no vitamins at all.
Then I decide to go to the drug store. THEY should have vitamins! Well, yes and no. Not the one I’m looking for. I’m told to try their other location.
When I go out to my car, I begin to figure out which location would be closer: the other location to my usual store, or the other location for the drug store?
I find the first is 14 miles away and open. The second is closer at just 12 miles away. Fortunately I notice that the second is closed for another hour (something the employee didn’t communicate to me). I “phone home” to alert I will be driving 14 miles and I am told they’re already going that way and will pick it up for me! Yay!!!
Technology ain’t always so great…
I go home and remember that I forgot to pick up my paycheck so back out I go. I call to let my employer know I’m on my way but I get a busy signal and am teleported in my mind back to the 1970s. Do busy signals still exist? Apparently they do. On the fourth call, I finally get a person and find my check is ready.
While en route, I tell my cell to send a text and four times it fails to send. At least my cell is polite as it pretty much tells me “no can do” and asks me to try again later. Fifth time is a charm and the text, after being dictated now five times, finally goes through. By this time I’ve arrived at my place of business.
When I go inside, I am able to get my check. My name is still misspelled and the amount is different than what I had expected, but hey, at least I have it in hand and am able to deposit it.
It’s not even noon yet!!!
But God is good.
What is our focus?
God may be helping me battle allergies (or whatever), but I am alive.
Things may get crazy, but my child is alive and generally healthy.
Plans go awry, changes have to be made, not everything makes sense all the time, but my needs are met by my Provider and I am thankful.
I’m constantly honing my ability to stop focusing on the things that bring negative stress, to choose to react differently to those things that I just cannot control (whether it’s a person or events or situation). God knows, and as long as I allow Him to be in control, I’m ok.
I say “as long as I allow Him to be in control” because (as humans) we often think we know better than the One who created us. Or we (I) get stressed if we can’t control something so we mess it up trying to control it ourselves. God won’t force Himself on us, or jerk the reigns out of our hands. It’s up to us to give the reigns to Him and surrender to His ability and know-how.
So this day as every other day, I choose to be thankful.
What are you thankful for today?
Thankful for you and your helpful page! I can relate! God bless you!
